About Kameko Rae
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Kameko Rae's life work bridges creativity, business, and service — a calling she has walked out with intention every step of the way. She holds a degree in Business Management from the University of Redlands and an MFA in Visual Fine Arts from Azusa Pacific University, a combination that shapes the way she moves through the world as both artist and entrepreneur.
Kameko's creative career spans fine art, education, and business — she teaches, creates courses, writes, and paints original artworks that speak to identity, dignity, and the human spirit. But beneath every canvas, every class, and every venture is the same unwavering passion: people, community, and connection.
Her impact hasn't gone unnoticed. Dr. Rae has received recognition from multiple cities and holds an honorary Doctorate — markers of a life devoted to purpose over accolades. Today, she lives in the suburbs of Los Angeles, continuing to advocate, speak, and serve wherever she's invited — walking fully in the calling she knows was placed on her life.

Artist Statement
I describe my art as a voice; observing both style and attitude of people through fashion. My portraits feel; exuding presence and identity. I’m attracted to bold prints, fabrics, textures, and color. I often use the gaze to give the viewer an authentic interaction with color.
I work with a mix of paints; acrylics and oils to create rich colors, textures and smooth , refined, details on the canvas. I use portraits , fabrics, and live, subject models. The canvas is layered with different paints to arrive at the colors I desire.
My work is inspired by Barkley Hendricks and his commitment to color, culture, representation and portraiture art. Through art , I highlight personal style as a powerful form of self expression, respect, and confidence of an individual . The backgrounds are inspired by Gee’s Bend Quilts and Africobra Color.

My work doesn't whisper — it speaks. Bold color, striking subjects, and unapologetic presence define every piece I create. I paint women who embody confidence, dignity, and quiet power — because those are the stories that deserve to be told. Rooted in faith and shaped by a deep respect for cultural history and resilience, my art exists to remind you of your own worth every time you walk past it. This isn't decoration. It's a daily declaration of who you are.
I create because I was made to create. My art is an act of faith — a belief that every one of us was wired by our Creator to make something beautiful, and that creativity itself is a form of worship. Each painting tells a story of confidence, resilience, and dignity, often drawing from rich cultural traditions like the quilts of Gee's Bend, whose history of perseverance continues to inspire my work today. My hope is that when you look at my paintings, you feel seen — reminded of your own strength, your own beauty, your own calling. This is more than art. It's a testimony.
