Color, Joy and Creative Play with Alma Thomas the American Female Painter
“Today, we’re going to meet a wonderful artist named Alma Thomas!
Alma loved colors—bright colors, soft colors, and all the colors the world could make.
When Alma was a little girl, she liked to look at the sky.
She noticed the sunshine made little sparkles.
She noticed flowers made tiny shapes.
She noticed the world was full of patterns!
As Alma grew up, she became a teacher—just like the teachers you see at school.
But she had a big dream too…
She wanted to make paintings filled with happiness and color.
So Alma dipped her brush into red…
and then blue…
and then yellow…
and she began making tiny strokes—little dabs of paint—
that looked like confetti dancing on paper!
People loved her colorful paintings.
Some said her circles looked like rainbows spinning.
Some said her dots looked like stars twinkling in space.
Alma smiled and said,
‘Everyone can make art. You just have to use your colors!’
And today, YOU get to make Alma-style art too!”
