Artist Statement

The start of a painting begins with an inspiration of people watching . I work with photos, magazines, and drawings to lay out a design imagined in my mind. I study patterns, fabrics, and fashion to infuse into the art. I work on canvas with color pencils, oils and acrylic paints to bring my imagined compilation of subjects known and unknown to life on the canvas.

Some of the most powerful presence I've ever painted came from stillness. My work lives at the intersection of contemporary art and portraiture — where color, culture, and identity collide on canvas. I don't paint people; I paint presence., grounded expressions, and a kind of dignity that doesn't perform, it simply is. My paintings don't compete in a room; they complete it. If your space needs less noise and more depth — a presence that settles you the moment you walk in — this is the art. Quiet strength isn't the absence of power; it's power that's sure enough of itself to be still.
